Happy Birthday Trisha!

authorprairiefairy | August 30, 2010

Happy Monday everyone! Yeah I know, whatever. hehehehe.

Today is a special day because it is one of my fairies birthdays! Happy birthday Trish! I actually made this card to post for the hop but didn’t have time to finish it till just today. WHEW!

I used one of my new releases from the Japanese collection called Japanese Lanterns. I colored them with prisma pencils and baby oil with blending stumps. I cut out the image with a nestie and the “hangover” technique (my name for it)  that I did a mini tut for here. I used a corner punch, tab punch, tag punch and a leaf punch! I followed the sketch at Friday Sketchers and made a secret message pocket.

I am entering these challenges with my card:

Cupcake Crafts Go Digital

Friday Sketchers sketch

Bee crafty Anything goes

Charisma HOT HOT HOT! ( I think my lanterns are hot! hahahah and the warm colors of the DP)

New Fairy Fun Fridays challenge

authorprairiefairy | July 9, 2010

This week we have a photo inspiration challenge for you. These are my favorite. I love to have a starting point but love the flexibility of being able to pull whatever I want for inspiration from the photo.

I of course pulled the colors, I also glossed up Gillian’s glasses to represent the glass pendant lights. Silver accessories and Voila!

I thought the little stampin up sentiment fit perfectly.

And here is a close up. I am trying to show you her glossy shoes and blue stickled dress. I also followed this weeks sketch at Friday Sketchers. I am entering it there so I have to of course post a bit early. HEHE! So there you have it, a sneek peek of tomorrows Fun Friday challenge.

I realized after I made this card that all the colored preview thumbnails came from this card. The funny thing is that I “smeared lipstick” all over her face and you couldn’t see her sans lipstick! So I went onto the site and loaded her up without the smears! he he!

I used my digital stamp, PRETTY GILLIAN for this card.

Hope you like and I hope maybe I win! HE HE!

Kaboodle Doodles! Wahoodles!

authorprairiefairy | May 31, 2010

Yes, I am sponsoring yet another challenge blog this week wow!
Kaboodle Doodles has a challenge going right now where you have to use 3 papers, two embellies, and 1 image I believe.
Here is my take. This is actually an old card I started, tore apart, (never happy with it) and revamped. I think it works and though it is not my fave, I am much more satisfied with it now.
I used the image Little Lady which is in the store for $3. Don’t forget about the Fairy Special Rewards program. Also, I have just had a gift certificate add on put into my cart program and as soon as I figure it out they will be available!
Happy monday! Yeah right!

DCD Christmas Challenges Sponsor!

authorprairiefairy | May 30, 2010

Woo, I am a hot tamale this week! I am also sponsoring Susie and Vikki’s christmas Challenges blog this week as I will always be last week of every month. I also get to be a guest designer for the week I sponsor and here is my card:
The theme this week is baby’s first Christmas. We all used the same image for our cards so we could see the variations we would come up with. You have got to go and see the other DT cards they are fab! I am entering this over at Cupcake Craft Challenges as I think it fits the theme. You are supposed to use only black and grey with one color, you were allowed to use skin/hair tones, and I hope my bunny’s fur is considered “hair”. Other than that area where I am not positive they will accept it I think it is pretty much bang on for the challenge. Allsorts has the same theme. And it is Monochromatic over at Kaboodle Doodles!.
Creative inspirations is using stitching, faux or real.
This image is called Bundeer and can be purchased in the shop for $3.
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and for those of you in the U.S are having a wonderful long weekend!

Sponsoring Sweet sketch Wednesday

authorprairiefairy | May 26, 2010

Good morning everyone!
Just wanted to pop in and let you all know that I am sponsoring Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week.
Here is my take on their sketch.
Now I know you are thinking, “something looks different here.” Yes, this is one of my images called In the Garden and yes I printed it. So where are the black lines? HE HE!
I opened the file in photoshop and reduced the opacity so that it was just a pale greyline image. I printed it onto watercolor paper, Arches 150lb cold pressed, and watercolored it with watercolor paint. I just had to color it in, no smearing because the print lines were so soft they just get lost in the image.
You can see how pale it was by the signature.
Hope you like it!

Recycled card???

authorprairiefairy | May 10, 2010

I think I am totally breaking all the rules but it is my challenge blog!
Yes I will be loading this card over there sometime today for my sample of recycled. How is it recycled? HE HE! This was an old card front I had from a while back that I never made a card out of. I have been so busy and sorry mom but I didn’t get a chance to custom make a card for my mom for mother’s day. So I took this card front and changed the sentiment, added some flowers and a base and voila!
I like it so much better now. I am not so sure I actually recycled anything but oh well. I guess as one of the girls on my DT said about one of their cards “I re-purposed it.”
The image I used is called Fairy Happy Valentines and you can purchase it in the store for $3.

Happy Monday!
